TUESDAY, 4.40pm: Young football star Paul Anderson made an instant impact on his long-awaited return from injury this afternoon.
The Liverpool FC winger, on a season-long loan at Nottingham Forest, was yet to make an appearance for the Reds having aggravated a thigh muscle tear he picked up earlier this year.

Anderson, from John O'Gaunt, came on as a second half substitute in Forest Reserves' Central Division match with Lincoln City and 17 minutes later was on the scoresheet, hitting the final goal in a 3-3 draw.

Forest had looked dead and buried as Lincoln took a 3-1 lead early in the second half. But the introduction of Anderson and another injury-plagued new signing Joe Garner in the 57th minute turned the match on its head.

Garner's through ball sent Anderson racing clear. The 20-year-old's shot was saved, but Mark Byrne fired in the rebound in the 71st minute.

Then just three minutes later, the winger equalised, firing home from the right-hand edge of the box after good work by skipper Brendan Moloney.

It is unlikely Anderson will be rushed back prematurely into first team action, but the news will come as a huge boost for Forest boss Colin Calderwood.

The Scot has seen a lack of goals send his team to the bottom of the Championship.
