WEDNESDAY, 4pm: Young Melton tennis players turned on the quality to claim the prestigious Fallows Cup last week.
Hamilton Tennis Club's mixed under 18s side overcame the Leicestershire Club 2-0 at the Knighton Indoor Tennis Centre to earn the silverware.

Hamilton reached the final with wins against Queniborough and Oadby before turning in a terrific semi-final performance at Carisbrooke LTC.

There Charlotte Griffin and Beth Lowe lost a close match, but Ed Blake and Peter Thorpe levelled and Blake and Griffin snatched overall victory in the deciding mixed doubles rubber.

In the final the Hamilton youngsters faced an under-strength Leicestershire side and overwhelmed their opponents.

Griffin and Helen Thorpe cruised to a 6-0 6-0 win before Blake and Peter Thorpe sealed the match with an emphatic 6-4 6-2 win.

The highlight of the final was Peter Thorpe's outrageous shot from behind his back which flew past their opponents for an outright winner, earning loud applause from both sets of supporters.
