THURSDAY, 1pm: A lightning quick start saw Melton score straight from kick-off when Munnelly picked up Webster's intelligent kick and Woolley crossed within a minute.

Melton continued to dominate, with strong runs by Gibson, Rippin and Munnelly.

Lutterworth almost scored on 14 minutes from a breakaway, Wade winning the race to the ball and Woolley and Webster clearing the danger.

But as Melton switched off Lutterworth earned a converted try after a maul near Melton's line.

The team responded to a talking to and thought they had scored on 23 minutes, but Murdoch's effort was disallowed. Braithwaite went close before the pressure saw Murdoch cross for a converted try.

Melton began the second half well as Dodge won possession and found Webster whose superb run and pass allowed Rippin to score after only two minutes.

Melton's pack held strong on their own line, while Swallow came on as sub and made an instant impact, surging forward from a lineout and twice being stopped just short as Melton dominated.

THE visitors arrived with a strong side to test unbeaten Melton.

Nottingham controlled the game from kick-off, rucking the ball very well and having some fine runs from the backs. Melton defended in numbers snuffing out everything Nottingham threw at them, but lost possession too easily.

Nottingham scored a try just before half-time after a driving maul inside Melton's five-metre area. Melton tried hard to respond, but couldn't break Nottingham's solid line and unusually struggled in the scrum and Nottingham added a converted try.

Both sides made some big hits in the tackles and a Nottingham player was finally sent off for consistent foul play. The best team won, but Melton made Nottingham work extremely hard.

IN a physical game Melton did very well with constant pressure.

The game of four quarters saw superb defence from both teams as neither conceded a single try until the final quarter. Melton won most of the lineouts and performed even better in the scrums.

Solid teamwork helped keep play mostly in Nottingham's half. After hard driving towards the touchline, Jack Parr broke to score a hard-fought first try. Harry Wood made good ground and off-loaded to George Hall for a fine second try.The visitors added a late consolation.
