Brave Holwell pay the penalty in Rolleston Cup

WEDNESDAY, 9am: Holwell Sports put on a brave performance against higher league opposition last night before bowing out on penalties.

Oadby won on penalties

The hosts were forced to play more than an hour with 10 men after Steve Smith was red-carded for two bookable offences.

But they responded magnificently, especially the back four who kept a tight rein on the Midland Alliance side's forwards.

Holwell played some good football and were unlucky not to win it in the 90 minutes.

But their penalty prowess let them down as they converted only one of the first four spot kicks - Andy Teare on target - with Oadby confidently netting all theirs to progress to the next round.
