"Some 10,000 leaflets were distributed at the weekend's food and drink festival and thanks to Melton Council we will also be able to offer free parking in our long stay car parks on the four Fridays before Christmas and on Christmas Eve."
One innovation this year is the Men's Christmas Shopping Experience. Details are still being finalised but there will be personal shoppers on hand, a gift wrapping service, entertainment and special offers and, it is hoped, late night shopping.
The Christmas lights, meanwhile, will be switched on by Liverpool FC's Paul Anderson, the ex-Melton Foxes player currently on loan at Nottingham Forest. Reindeer, husky dogs and Santa will also be paying a visit.
Choirs will be performing throughout the day alongside a Christmas and Continental market, and fireworks and live bands will round off the night.
